There are many organizations addressing barriers to upward mobility in our region. This page provides links to organizations’ websites that serve as resource hubs for a variety of services.

Serve Southern Dallas

  • Provides a large number of summaries and links to organizations serving southern Dallas.
  • Services can be filtered by service offered, population served, and neighborhoods – South Dallas, Fair Park, Oak Cliff, and Pleasant Grove

City of Dallas Community Resources

  • Low cost or free resources to Dallas residents based on zip code and organized by topic
  • Users are able to filter out resources based on income level, special needs, household composition and preferred language 
  • Resource referrals include requirements for program or service, map of location, contact information and hours of operation
  • Site is updated frequently and available in multiple languages

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas – Get Assistance

  • Targets both community members and possible community partners
  • Provides information about services to the community in the areas of education, income and health

North Texas Food Bank – Food Assistance

  • Provides access to mobile food pantry
  • Information on SNAP application and benefits
  • Offer programing for children, seniors and gardens

Dallas Public Library – Services

  • Free resources to all Dallas residents. Website offers information in English and Spanish but several branches also have other language options depending on community needs
  • Calendar of workshops in financial literacy, tax prep, citizenship classes, ESL classes, children activities, etc. at different local branches
  • Equipment and media loans such as books, DVDs, laptops, cameras, typewriters, microphones and editing software

Dallas Habitat for Humanity – Community Resources

  • Provides information and resources to legal services, housing, advocacy and basic needs
  • Educational material for homeowners regarding repairs, laws and rights
  • Provides data on housing costs and trends in Dallas
